But it was last night, as I was returning to my hotel at around 11pm - Nepalese go to bed very early, and Kathmandu is deserted like a western town by 10pm. - that I was electrocuted:
A small, well-dressed boy, around 9-10 years old, walks towards me with a big smile. The street is deserted, and it's a strange sensation to see this boy, who doesn't fit in with the scenery, saying to me in perfectly fluent English:
Hello, do you want a special massage ?

Pourquoi décrire ce pays ainsi ? Kathmandu,ça pue, c’est pauvre,c’est pollué à mort et Thamel c’est invivable…Ok. De la drogue on vous en propose sans cesse,de la douce…du shit, MAIS DES ENFANTS ? Perso je n’ai JAMAIS été sollicité par cela et faut vraiment méconnaître ce pays,et avoir envie de “vendre” du trash pour prétendre cela. Déjà dans Thamel à 22h il n’y a plus beaucoup de monde dans les rues,et des enfants qui s’y prostituent C’EST FAUX ! Il ne faut pas s’énerver comme ça. Je ne connais surement pas Katmandou aussi bien que toi, mais lors de mon voyage de 3 mois au Népal, c’est bien cette histoire qui m’est arrivé, dans Thamel… J’en suis tout aussi navré que toi.
This comment by the guides makes me laugh (yellow) hidden prostitution in Nepal ... In fact it is not especially aimed at Westerners so not concentrated in tourist areas but around the bus park for locals and Indians, in what the Nepalese call "cabins restaurant" in the squartiers of Sundhara Gongabu .... But the uneducated Nepalese, 99% prostitutes who don't speak English, won't go for the toruists, hence this false impression. I agree with Alain 12 years in Nepal never heard of or experienced a similar anectode with a 10 year old boy soliciting!
